For my third project, I selected 3 influential names from history that have made an impact on the world and still do today, but I added a twist. Each of the inventors were outcasted. All of them were either doubted, had struggles in their early life or work life, or were seen as strange or different. I looked into the lives and success stories of Thomas Edison, Walt Disney, and Andy Warhol. I wanted to learn about what they had to overcome and the perseverance they demonstrated in order to gain the success they had. For my art piece, I created an abstract painting telling a story of Andy Warhol's life through reasoning and symbolism. My work in history consisted of a collage of Andy Warhol's paintings and artwork with reasoning behind each piece since I chose each painting to represent a different element in the artist's life. Finally, for my english component, I created three posters inspired by Apple's 'Think Different' posters. On the back of each poster, I annotated the quote I selected from each person.
Art Component
This piece was made to summarize the evolution of Andy Warhol's style, personality, and presence in society. In the beginning he blended in and wasn't seen as unique. He was more weird. Then as time went on and he transitioned into college, he branched out with his style and personality and became unique and known for his differences.
History Component
My history project consisted of a collage of art pieces created by Andy Warhol. I analyzed the significance of each piece I included and the story behind each, including how they were representative of Warhol's life. I also did some background research so I could make connections based on research so my explanations behind the art would be accurate.
English Component
My English portion consisted of three posters inspired by Apple's 'Think Different' posters. These helped to portray how each inventor influenced their own lives due to their beliefs. I included famous quotes from each person to put their mindsets into words. I then dissected these quotes to show why the people said what they said and how they are still relevant to modern times.
Reasoning in my project
In this project, I used reasoning on a broader spectrum. Reasoning was included in the same way throughout the entire project. My overall reasoning for creating this project and studying these people was because they were outcasted or doubted, they kind of hid amongst everyone else until they did something to differentiate themselves. In my life, I've always been pretty private when it comes to the work I do or the things that I create. I liked this project because it applied to be and I had a personal connection to the overall idea of it.
